MY FAITH JOURNEY

I grew up in the Congregational Church (UCC) and attended because my parents expected me to do so. Had never heard the Good News until a pastor led me to the Lord in my late 20’s. Personal growth was sporadic until about 15 years ago when we joined a Baptist church. Health issues 11 years ago focused me more on Christ. I have come to value the joy of a personal, serving relationship with Jesus.

FAMILY

Linda and I have been married for more than 55 years and have two children and 3 grandchildren. Since coming home after nearly 30 years away, we’re experiencing life close to family and enjoying it very much.

PASSIONS FOR THE KINGDOM

Encouraging and serving plus gratefully praising Him. Sharing God’s gifts.

FAVORITE BIBLE VERSES

Romans 5: 1-5, ESV: Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.

James 1: 2-4, ESV: Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

My first study of James, several years past, was less than fulfilling given his direct, confrontational view of faith and works. Following studies have helped me appreciate his message about accountability. It’s also changed my perception of the term ‘joy’.

RECOMMENDED BOOKS

The Holy Bible, especially the Old Testament. As an introduction to the New Testament, it prefaces fulfilled prophesy and the joy of life, after Jesus’ birth.

HOBBIES

Reading, photo-editing, playing and repairing guitars.
